Bottega Louie, Downtown LA

Downtown LA still has a ways to go before it becomes the heart of the city, but there are a number of great destinations to check out downtown. Last Saturday we went out to Bottega Louie a great Italian restaurant downtown. The restuarant has 30-40 foot high ceilings and is bustling with people. We didn't have reservations but were seated within 10-15 minutes. Try their colorful macaroons from the bakery. Real estate is still surprisingly strong downtown & sales seem to be pretty good considering the bad economic news one hears. Lofts downtown have come down in price significantly from the peak of the market. These are two of my favorite buildings Biscuit Company Lofts and Barker Block. You can also checkout Alta Lofts just north of downtown in Lincoln Heights. It's a more industrial area but you have great views from the building and they are being auctioned off for pretty low prices.
