Mid-Century Home in Altadena!

We love this very cool mid-century modern 3BR+1BA home in Altadena!

Architect Alfred W. Day, a partner of Gregory Ain's, who designed the Park Planned Homes on Highview in Altadena, created this home for his personal residence in 1948. Day collaborated with well-known landscape architect Garrett Eckbo, author of Landscape for Living, to create a home with a balanced blend of simplicity, function and natural beauty and, in doing so, achieved an exquisite harmony between natural surroundings outside and sleek streamlined comfort within.

Using floor-to-ceiling panels of glass, the lush terraced gardens and expansive vistas are incorporated directly into the living space, exemplifying the highest in landscape and architectural design. The architectural integrity of the home has been preserved throughout the years, while still being well-maintained and updated. The craftsmanship evident in the custom windows, doors and cabinetry has been retained and is a testament to the artistry and care that went into the design and construction of the home. The home has a lovely rustic feel but, for those nights you're feeling a bit more social, it's only a short drive from the bustling streets of Old Town Pasadena.
