Cohousing - A Great Concept.

Cohousing is a housing development movement that started in the late 1960's in Denmark, where it is called Bofaellesskaber or 'living communities'. With increasing numbers of women going to work, there was a desire to reduce the burden of housework, and in particular childcare and evening meals, through shared communal services. Cohousing is also seen to improve social relations and develop a sense of community. Cohousing neighborhoods consist of private homes with shared facilities, where residents own their dwellings as well as a share in the communal facilities. Not as common in the US as it is in Europe, the closest thing we have is the "small lot subdivision ordinance", or condos, or townhomes but usually communal facilities do not exist. I think it's a great idea and would like to see it implemented in the US.
